We had the pleasure of getting to know Trudy over the last few years during our yearly visit with Hans and Michelle. She always had a lovely smile to brighten your day, and an interesting story or wise words to complement the everyday conversations we would have and her presence will be missed. The love, care and respect Hans, Michele, Rachel, and Hans Peter had for Trudy was easy to see, as was her influence and spirit that shone in them. Trudy’s legacy is definitely the family that she created. Our love and sincerest condolences. Mary Anne and Michael Good.

I didn't meet Trudy until she was in her 80s. All through the next two decades, Trudy struck me as strong, practical, and engaged in the world. She maintained her faculties by continuing to do the things she loved. Her knitting and parchesi skills were amazing for any age. But I think what has inspired me the most about Trudy is her love of nature - birds, gardens, and camping - as described to me by her daughter. When Christie and I go camping, she frequently recalls the things her mother would do for their family camping trips back in the 1960s and 1970s. The amount of work she did to prepare for the trip and the inconveniences she navigated with low tech equipment and 5 kids in tow is overwhelming. But she did it all to immerse herself, and her children, in the peace and beauty of natural landscapes. I know that one of the last "hobbies" Trudy took up in her final year as her mobility declined was kitten-watching. Right until the end, Trudy was finding ways to show the love in her heart and her appreciation for God's creation. She led a blessed life.
