Obituary of Judith Ann Ryan
Judith Ann Ryan, 80, of Clinton, passed away on Tuesday, August 13, 2024, in the comfort of her own home surrounded by the love of her family.
Judy was born in Utica, NY on January 30, 1944 to the late Harry and Elsie (Morgan) Selbach. She graduated from Utica Schools and later went on to attend business school in Elmira NY. For many years she worked for the Foothills Girl Scout Council office in Utica, eventually leaving there to start her own business, a bar named “Justabar”. Judy proudly finished out her working years at the Lutheran Home in Clinton serving as the Secretary of Staff Development.
In 1996 she married the love of her life Patrick J. Ryan. The two of them enjoyed a loving marriage of over 28 years. Judy’s spunk and laughter filled any room she walked into. She enjoyed the simple things in life, taking car rides, enjoying ice cream, playing easy listening music and having the company of her family and friends. When leaving her house she would always tell you to “watch out for the deer”. She loved sitting outside on her porch watching the cars go by while admiring her flowers and the fish in the pond. She always said she would never want to live anywhere else in the world.
Judy will be missed by her loving husband, Patrick; children: Denise Woolheater-Wolanin; David (Karen) White; Shawn (McKenzie) Ryan; Charlene Edwards; Heather (David) Brockett, Eric Johnson (Paula); grandchildren, Morgan (Ryan Schmadel); Kara Wolanin; Jason and Michelle (James Burke) White; Roslyn Ryan, soon to be Baby Ryan; Kenneth Wysluzaly, Jr.; Austin Edwards; Novalee Johnson; Maverick Johnson; brother-in-law Mike (Susan) Ryan, sister-in-law Judy “Two” Ryan and her K-9 companion Bear. She also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews, both near and far.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her brother and sister-in-law Richard “Butch” and Anita Selbach, her adored in-laws Ed and Evelyn Ryan and brother-in-law Ricky Ryan.
All are invited to call Tuesday, August 20, 2024, at Owens-Pavlot & Rogers Funeral Services, Clinton from 11am-1pm with a service to
follow immediately at the funeral home. She will be laid to rest in St. Joseph’s-St. Patrick's Cemetery, Utica.
The family would like to thank all the nurses and staff on the 8th floor of the Wynn hospital and at Hospice for their care and compassion. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation in Judy's name to Hospice and Palliative Care of New Hartford, N.Y.
