Obituary of Richard J. Mahoney, Sr.
Richard J. Mahoney, Sr., 89, passed away June 22, 2024, at the Presbyterian Home for CNY.
He was born in Norwich on January 19, 1935, a son of the late Bernard L. and Agnes (Huegen) Mahoney. Dick enlisted in the United States Air Force and served his country with pride. He was married to Carolyn Hughes, with whom he raised his children. Dick was then married to Jacqueline Harrison until her passing in 2019. Dick worked at Bosserts for many years as a machinist. He was a devoted golfer and loved to fish. Dick never missed a NY Giants or NY Yankees game. He was a proud member of the Clark Mills American Legion Post #26 and was of the Catholic faith.
He will be missed by his children, Richard and Stacey Mahoney Jr of Frankfort, Kelly and Richard Madore of Whitesboro, Carrie and Matt Nolan of Clark Mills, and James and Kelly Mahoney of Palm Bay, FL; his grandchildren, Mollie Mahoney and Kevin Kowiatek, Justin and Brittney Orischak, Mark and Erin Rashford, Richelle and Justin Acker, Carlie Rashford, Kristi and Jason Phillips, Jordan and Brianna Madore, Kelsey Mahoney, Reilly Madore, and Jamie Mahoney and Brooke Morris; his great-grandchildren, Dylan, Mark III, Autumn, Vincent, Jace, Kaedyn, Logan, Alani, Alaya, Colton, Corben, Chase Phillips, and one on the way; his brother Daniel and Sharon Mahoney of Clark Mills, sisters, Mary Ann Kinney of Waterville, and Sharon and Roger Petrillo of Sylvan Beach; sister-in-law, Jean Mahoney of Clark Mills, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, wife Jacqueline, brother Bernard Mahoney, sister Patricia Smith, and grandson Ryan Madore.
All are invited to call Monday, July 1, 2024, from 4-7pm at Owens-Pavlot & Rogers Funeral Service, 35 College St., Clinton. A Memorial Service will follow at 7pm. He will be buried at Kirkland Cemetery Tuesday, July 2nd at 11am.
