David Lee Moulton Obituary
David Moulton, born on April 16, 1947, in Sherrill, NY, led a life filled with service, dedication, and kindness. A graduate of VVS High School, he pursued geology at Utica College before embarking on a 20-year career with the United States Air Force, serving from 1970 until 1990. After his distinguished military career, David became the Village Treasurer and Clerk of Clinton, NY. Later, he found fulfillment driving buses for Clinton Central School District, and tour buses including for Hamilton College track and cross-country teams.
David Moulton's affinity for dogs was evident to anyone who saw him with his beloved companions. Whether he was walking through the local park or exploring Adirondack trails, his dogs were his steadfast partners. Each dog he cared for seemed to understand him as deeply as he understood them, creating a mutual respect and love that was palpable. David was often called “the dog whisperer” because he had a remarkable ability to connect with dogs, often greeting them with a kind smile and a gentle pat, which they reciprocated with wagging tails and affectionate nuzzles.
A man who valued the natural world, David frequently took to the outdoors for long hikes or quiet moments observing wildlife. David was also known for his love of hockey, running, camping, kayaking and x country skiing. He had a dry, quick wit and one liners. His kind and gentle spirit brightened the lives of everyone around him.
David is survived by his soulmate Wendy Eden, and her son and daughter-in-law, Kyle and Laine Dewey, his daughter Shawna and her husband, Daniel Daggett, son Benjamin Moulton, daughter Jaime and husband Sean Brennan and their mother Sharleen Moulton, his grandchildren Allison Moulton and her fiance Brad Pier, Joshua Heintz, Hayleigh Heintz, his sister Linda Schmidt, and sister-in-law Marcia Hartsock, as well as nieces and nephews and their families, who will forever remember his warmth and kindness. He was preceded in death by his parents Walter and Carol Moulton, and his brother Bruce Moulton. He leaves behind a legacy of friendship and generosity among the many friends, neighbors, and community members who knew and loved him.
There are so many people to thank for their kindness and generosity during this difficult time - you know who you are. We would like to thank especially, Debra Brown "Our Angel", Steve and Nancy Donovan, and the staff at Rome Health.
Friends and family are invited to join in celebrating David's life. Calling hours will be held at Owens-Pavlot & Rogers Funeral Service on Saturday, May 11, 2024, from 12pm-2pm. A celebration of life service will be held at 2.
