Obituary of Gertrude L. Flint
Gertrude L. Flint, 92, of Westmoreland, passed away peacefully at the Masonic Home on April 8, 2024.
She was born November 25, 1931, a daughter of William and Margaret (Overend) Shepherd. Gert was a graduate of Clinton Central School with the Class of 1950. She was united in marriage to John S. Flint on September 17, 1955. The couple shared a blessed union until his passing on January 6, 1988.
Known as “Ma” by everyone who loved her, Gert opened her home and heart to her family and their friends. It was never a bother to feed or bake for a house full and she made it look easy. Gert’s catering business kept her busy, as well as her volunteer work in the community. She was employed for many years at the Clark Mills American Legion, Clinton VFW, and the Vernon American Legion. She was also a bus driver for Westmoreland Central School and took care of kids at her home. She was a member of the Church of the Annunciation and sang with Exodus at church, as well as at local nursing homes and hospitals, bringing joy to the residents. Gert had a green thumb and loved spending time in her gardens.
She will be missed by her children, Michele and George Humphrey, Theodore and Kelly Flint, Kathi and Donald Merrell, and Michael and Rhonda Flint; her grandchildren, Jessica Humphrey and Josh Thomas, Don and Jessica Merrell, Sarah and Rick Rodos, Chelsea and Vinny Vullo, Tessa Merrell, Theodore and Brooke Flint, John Flint, Jarrett Flint, Jordan Flint, and Olivia Merrell; thirteen great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband John; her parents; and her siblings, Ignatius, Ralph, Bob, Leo, Marie, Jane, and Jack.
All are invited to call from 4-7pm on Friday, April 12, 2024, at Owens-Pavlot & Rogers Funeral Service, 35 College St., Clinton. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11am on Saturday at Church of the Annunciation in Clark Mills. She will be laid to rest at Westmoreland Cemetery.
