Obituary of Walter E. Kogut
Walter E. Kogut, 79, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on March 20, 2024.
Walt was born February 2, 1945, a son of the late Edward and Helen (Synakowski) Kogut. He was born to be a farmer, working on the family farms of both of his grandfathers. He developed a strong work ethic and enjoyed the feeling of a good day’s work. He worked at Waterville Knitting Mills for over 25 years and retired as manager. He then worked as a manager at White’s Farm Supply for 25 years. Walt was not one to sit idle. He loved to be outside and tend to his yard. He was a bit of a perfectionist. Walt enjoyed good conversation, making friends wherever he went. After his retirement, he went to work with his son Tim and was the “CEO” of Kogut Excavating. Everyone in town was accustomed to seeing Walt in the Kogut vehicles driving around town.
Walter was united in marriage to Bonnie Moyer on May 15, 1965, at St. Anthony’s Church in Chadwicks, a blessed union of 58 years. Together they raised their family and enjoyed the fruits of their labors. Walt was a loving husband, an awesome father and the best Papa to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He will be missed by his devoted wife, Bonnie; his daughter, Tia Elow of Clinton; his two sons, Todd and Diane Kogut of Clinton, and Tim Kogut and fiancée Erica Bell of Clinton; his four grandchildren, Elizabeth Elow, Nicholas Kogut, John and Nikki Lints and Laura and Chris Todt; five great-grandchildren, Jayden, Adriana, Blake, Lucas, and Eliyanah; his sister Patricia and David Smith of PA; his nieces and nephews; and his many friends. He was predeceased by his parents, and his sister Mary Kogut Stanimer.
A celebration of Walter’s life will be held at a future date. Please consider donations in his memory to Rescue Mission of Utica.
Arrangements by Owens-Pavlot & Rogers Funeral Service, Clinton.
