Obituary of Earl W. Demorest

Please share a memory of Earl to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Earl W. Demorest, 87, passed away on March 11, 2024, surrounded by the love of his family.

He was born July 2, 1936, a son of the late Clifford and Margareta (Locke) Demorest. After high school Earl served his country in the US Army. He was united in marriage to Shirley Burmaster on August 24, 1957. He worked for many years as a Mechanic for the FX Matt Brewery in Utica. Earl will be remembered for his love of family and how he always made sure to show it. His actions spoke louder than words. He truly enjoyed woodworking and was very creative, making many projects over the years from furniture to knick knacks.   His grandchildren all received handmade gifts for their weddings that were built by grandpa to last forever.

He is survived by the memory of his son Earl Jr. who died in 2009; his children, Melody Knowles of Delmar, Renee and Ken Cuda of Baldwinsville, Darlene and Martin Snedeker of Rome, and Steven and Christine Demorest of Somerset, PA; daughter-in-law, Laurie Demorest of Cassville; his six beloved grandchildren, Alyssa and Taran Fleming, Joanne and Matt Getman, Rebecca and Quinn Kelly, Kevin Shoemaker, Ashley Demorest, and Marisa Knowles; his five great-grandchildren, Harrison and Elana Fleming, Morgan and Taylor Kelly, and Emma Getman; siblings, Clifford and Barb Demorest of Amityville, and Joyce Huddleston of Sebring, Florida; many nieces and nephews; and his dog Taffy.  He was predeceased by the love of his life Shirley, his son Earl Jr., his parents, and his sister Emily Roberts.

All are invited to call Saturday, March 16, 2024, from 9am-11am at Owens-Pavlot & Rogers Funeral Service, 35 College St., Clinton.  Funeral services will follow at 11am.  He will be buried at Evergreen Cemetery.
