Albert E. Geer, 91, died unexpectedly on November 23, 2023, and is now reunited with his beloved wife Sandra.

He was born in Avoca, Pennsylvania on October 2, 1932, a son of Francis and Helen (Terns) Geer. The family moved to Chadwicks when he was a young child and he graduated from Chadwicks High School. His first few jobs were in Chadwicks and included washing dishes at Willowvale Diner and driving for Jones’ Ambulance Service.

He began his 70+ year automotive sales career at Dahl Motors. Other dealerships he worked at included Main Street Motors, Norm Hannah Chevrolet, Morris Chevrolet and Oldsmobile, Frank Gee Chevrolet, C. Weaver Chevrolet, and finished his career at Davidson Chevrolet. He was known as “The Working Man’s Friend”. Al married Sandra J. Dennison on February 26th, 1955, at St. Mary’s Church in Hamilton, NY. Theirs was a union that lasted 68 years until her recent passing this summer. They made their home in Clark Mills for the rest of their lives.

Al enjoyed traveling with members of the family to many places including Lake George, Lake Placid, New York City, Carlisle, PA, Reading, PA, Ogunquit, ME, Sunset Beach, NC, and Ohio, Florida, and Texas. He was a passionate sports fan, enjoying NASCAR racing, UConn girls’ basketball, Syracuse basketball, Kansas City Chiefs football, any team Breanna Stewart played for, and numerous teams in the NHL. His favorite NASCAR driver was Dale Earnhardt, Sr., and he had the privilege of acting as Dale’s C. Weaver Chevrolet liaison whenever Dale traveled in the area. Al was a member and usher at Church of the Annunciation in Clark Mills. He was also an active member of YASMAC.

He will be deeply missed by his three children and their spouses - Donna and Bob Maxam, Kevin and Donna Geer, and Debbie and Mark Edick; adored grandchildren Danielle and Adam Westerfeld, Ryan Geer, and Kelly Geer; and his beloved grandpuppies Lexie, Charlie, Jake, and Finley. He leaves his cousins Larry Geer and family, Michael Geer, Christine Geer, and Patricia Manley Stuttard. Al was very close with his niece Celeste (Brian) McKissick and family of Ohio.

He was predeceased by his parents, his brothers and their wives, his cousin Wayne Geer, and nephew Stephen Dennison. He was also predeceased by many dear friends including Joe Lomanto, Wayne Martin, and John Morris.

He had many dear friends who enriched his life; Tom and Betty Chamberlain, Mike Dier, Warren Evans, Pat Young, Don Olmstead, and too many others to list. He also had many wonderful neighbors who looked out for him, especially Teresa Steele.

The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the emergency services personnel who showed such kindness. The warmth and respect shown by the responding members of New Hartford Police, Clark Mills Fire Department, and COVAC will not be forgotten.
