Obituary of Richard E. Schmidt

Richard E. Schmidt, age 77, of Clinton, passed from this life to eternal life to be forever with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, November 21, 2009 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center. He was born in Kirkland, NY on August 27, 1932, the son of Richard and Mabel Kellogg Schmidt and was educated at Clinton Central School. He was a US Army veteran of the Korean War and received an associate's degree in commercial art from the University of Buffalo. In 1955, he married Elaine Klimacek and recently celebrated their 52nd wedding anniversary together. He was employed at Oneida Silversmith's for many years in the advertising department. Surviving are his wife Elaine; his sons, Karl Schmidt of Rushford and Gary Schmidt of Rome; four granddaughters, Angela Gilroy, Abigail Schirle, Emily Schmidt and Kristie Schmidt; and two great-grandchildren, Liam and Fiona Gilroy. Funeral services will be held at 10am Wednesday, November 25, 2009 at Bible Baptist Church, 4431 Middle Settlement Rd, New Hartford. Burial with military honors will follow at Kirkland Prospect Cemetery. Friends are invited to call Tuesday from 2-4 & 7-9pm at Owens-Pavlot & Rogers Funeral Service, Inc, 35 College St., Clinton.
