Obituary of Denise A. Woodward

Denise A. Woodward, 57, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, October 10, 2023, at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital.

Denise was Born in Utica on July 6, 1966 to Donald Shantal Sr. and Ida (Bishop) Shantal. She graduated from Waterville Schools. She married the love of her life Steven “Woody” Woodward on May 2, 1987 at the Deansboro United Methodist Church. Her family was the most important part of her life. She loved spending time with her children and her grandchildren. She also had a very special place in her heart for her dogs.

Denise loved to have fun and she loved talking to people and making new friends. She could often be found soaking up the sun and listening to country music.

Denise will be greatly missed by her loving husband, Steven Woodward; children, Stephanie and Dan Leger, Steven Woodward; grandchildren, Daniel and Emily Leger; mother, Ida Shantal; Sister, Deborah Jeffers and fiancé Doug Eaton, brothers and sisters-in-law, Dan Woodward, Ken Woodward, Kim Hughes, Dana Champion; aunts, Shirley Crawford, Dorothy Burke; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins who she loved so much. She was predeceased by her father, Donald Shantal Sr.; brother, Donald Shantal Jr.; aunt, Betty Shantal.

All are invited to her graveside service on Saturday, October 21, 2023, 11am at Deansboro Cemetery.
