Obituary of Arvon B. Evans
Arvon B. "RV" Evans passed away peacefully on September 26, 2023.
RV was born on December 5, 1941 to Lynn and Mary Evans. RV grew up and spent most of his life in Westmoreland. He was a volunteer fireman with Westmoreland Fire Department. An electrician by trade he spent his early years traveling the state with different companies. He worked at Utica Psychiatric Center before finally transferring to Mid-State Correctional Facility from where he retired as Maintenance Supervisor.
An avid outdoorsman, he loved to hunt and trap in his early years. He joined the Raven Run Hunt Club out of McKeever. There he taught his boys how to respect nature and navigate the Adirondacks. Throughout the years many weeks of hunting seasons were spent in the woods with his best of friends.
RV was a stubborn man, a hard nut to crack. But if you were lucky enough to get through his hard outer shell you had a loyal friend who would do anything for you. He cherished his friendships more than many of them ever knew. He looked forward to daily sessions of spirited debates and breaking chops with his bar buddies.
RV will be deeply missed by his sons and daughters in law; Thomas and Kathryn, Richard and Susan, and his grandchildren Abigail, Griffin, Gavin, and Guinevere.
RV, the youngest of four children, is survived by his sister, Charlotte Bowers. He is predeceased by his sister Marjorie Shultz and brother Robert Evans. He leaves behind many nieces and nephews.
Per Arvon's wishes he will be cremated and his ashes will be spread upon the hunting lands he cherished. In his memory, please consider donations to St. Jude’s.
Arrangements by Owens-Pavlot & Rogers Funeral Service, Clinton.
In Loving Memory
