Obituary of Austin J Bartholomew

Austin J. Bartholomew, 85, of Utica Street, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 9, 2013.
He was born on September 18, 1927, in Tully, NY, a son of Jay D. and Mary Austin Bartholomew. He graduated from Tully High School, received his associate's degree from Bentley School of Accounting and Finance and his bachelor's degree from Syracuse University in 1954. Austin had served his country in the US Army during World War II. On April 4, 1953, he was united in marriage to Lois Smith in Rochester, NY. Austin worked in the transportation and distribution industry for many years with companies, including Revere Copper and Brass and his own business, Freight Cost Consultants. In his younger years, he had been a member of the Tully Fire Department and was currently a member of the New Hartford First United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Lois; three children, Brett (Beverly) Bartholomew of Rome, NY, Jill (John) Dunlop of , Lehi UT, and Bruce (Rosann) Bartholomew of Bloomington, IN and Stonington, CT; his two granddaughters, Amanda Bartholomew and Sheri Schultz; two great-grandchildren, Braden and Blake; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents, his grandson, Matthew Dunlop and his brother, Bruce Bartholomew and sister-in-law, Beth Bartholomew
The family would like to acknowledge some of very special neighbors who mowed lawns, took out trash, grocery shopped and brought food to us. Franco and Mary Ann Zali, Mike and Barbara Along and Steve and Janet Adkisson, we thank you so very much.
Services will be held at the convenience of the family with burial in Tully Cemetery. Arrangements by Owens-Pavlot & Rogers Funeral Service, Inc., Clinton.
