Obituary of Wanda S. Furness

Wanda S. Furness, 80, formerly of Oriskany Falls, passed away August 26, 2023. 

She was born August 19, 1943, in Malone, the daughter of Clarence and Agnes Roundy.  Wanda was adopted and raised by her parents Stanley and Gertrude Frederick.  She graduated from Beaux Beauty School in Syracuse and worked as a hairdresser.  Wanda retired from Hamilton College after 32 years of service.  She loved to spend time in her garden and feed the birds.  Wanda was also talented at crochet. One of her proudest accomplishments was climbing Mt. Marcy.  She was a devoted mother and grandmother. 

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, John and Sonya Furness; her daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Lance Nassimos; her grandchildren Angela and Cameron McMicken, John Jr and Cassandra Furness, Sean Furness and fiancé Andrea Buschor, Thomas Furness and fiance Raye Lagoy, Lucas Nassimos and fiancé Morgan Westbrook, Lindsey Nassimos and Jeremy Riemersma; great-grandchildren, Sara and Ryan McMicken, Sean “Fred” and Jane Furness and she was excited about a great-granddaughter Nassimos arriving in December.  She is also survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Barbara and Melvin Tomlinson and many nieces and nephews.  Wanda was predeceased by her brothers and sisters, Clarence Roundy, William Roundy, Frank Roundy, Joe Frederick, Patsy Hyatt and Jeanette Trueworthy; and an infant son Thomas Joe Furness. 

All are invited to call Friday, September 1, 2023, from 2-4pm at Owens-Pavlot & Rogers Funeral Service, 35 College St., Clinton and stay for a Celebration of Wanda’s Life at 4pm.  She will be buried at Hillside Cemetery in Oriskany Falls.
