Obituary of Marion I. Schlist

Marion Ingersoll Schlist, 66, of Fountain Street, devoted wife and beloved mother, passed away at home, with her family by her side on Tuesday, July 2, 2013.
She was born on December 15, 1946 in Utica, a daughter of Edward DeForest and Ella Williams Ingersoll. She attended Deansboro Elementary School and graduated from Waterville Central School before receiving her Associates' Degree in Secretarial Science from MVCC in 1966. On October 24, 1970, she was united in marriage to William Raymond Schlist at the New Hartford Methodist Church. Marion and Bill renewed their wedding vows on October 16, 2010 at the Deansboro United Methodist Church with their children in attendance. A reception was given by the children at the couples' home in Clinton following the ceremony. Marion worked at Utica Area Council of Churches, General Electric, WUTR Television Station, and retired from Clinton Central School District where she worked from 1989-2008, mostly as a secretary in the High School Office.
She was a life-long member of the Deansboro United Methodist Church, where she served as a choir member, Sunday School Student Teacher, and Superintendent, as well as on many committees throughout the Deansboro Church and the Living Waters Parish, the four sister churches in our area. Marion had also belonged to Crystal Chapter #188, which later became Bell Tower Chapter #188 Order of the Eastern Star of Waterville, NY.
She is survived by her husband, William; her three children and their spouses, Katharine and Jed Stiles of Illinois, Carolyn and Thomas Burroughs of Holliston, MA and William and Carla Schlist of E. Greenbush, NY; three grandchildren, Leilani Burroughs, Joseph Burroughs and Natalie Schlist; her sister, Jeanette Kennard; her nieces and nephews, Virginia Kennard Zombeck, Janella Kennard Kelley, Ellen Klein Posa, Edward Kennard, Scott Klein and their families. Marion was predeceased by her parents, her sister Martha Klein and brothers-in-law, George Kennard and Kenneth Klein.
Funeral services will be held at Noon on Friday, July 5, 2013 at the Deansboro United Methodist Church. All are invited to call Friday at church from 9am until Noon prior to the service.
