I took several classes with Prof. Williams, all of the extremely engaging. He was also my thesis advisor and helped me more than I can say. Knowing him was a blessing.

Jay was a gentle, wise soul and one of my favorite people ever. When I was at Hamilton ('72-'76), I took his comparative religion course and spent many, many afternoons playing bridge in Bristol while watching Bugs Bunny and other Looney Tunes cartoons. I ran into him a few years back while showing my daughter the campus. He was about to retire, I believe, after a year of sabbatical. He said he loved those afternoons back in the '70's. I'm sure he made a lot of other people happy ever since.

I have never forgotten Jay's course Time, Space and Power which changed my understanding of life in many ways. He was an intellectually vibrant, kind and lovely human being, and I was always so glad to run into him and chat with him over the subsequent years. He was a treasure in our community.
