Obituary of Shirley Dohn

Shirley S. Dohn 90, of Beatty Ave Clinton passed away peacefully at the Eastern Star Home.

She was born on October 25, 1932 in Utica, New York the daughter of the late Harold A and Esther (Swain) Sims. Shirley graduated from Kenmore High School in 1950 and attended the University of Buffalo. On September 18, 1954 she was united in marriage to Albert Dohn at St. Mary’s Church in Clinton. They were married for nearly 62 years until Albert passed away in 2016.

Shirley was a homemaker and dedicated her time to her family. She entered the workforce when her children were grown. She was employed as a Resident Companion at the Lutheran Homes in Clinton. Shirley loved the outdoors and the peace and tranquility sitting on her front porch. She was a devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She cherished the time spent with them.

Shirley is survived by a son and three daughters, Albert H and Nancy Dohn of Utica, Cheryl Matera of Charlotte NC, Karen and John Grogan of Westmoreland, and Diane Dohn and Joe Grabowski of Camillus, four grandchildren Benjamin Dohn and Amanda Addington, Courtney and Clay Patterson, Sean and Gabrielle Grogan, and Shannon and Kevin Baxter and three great granddaughters Callahan and Emerson Grogan, Cora Baxter and a great grandson Jameson Grogan. She is also survived by her childhood friends Edith (Edie) Drew and Maureen Shipley.

The family would like to extend their deepest appreciation to the staff of the Eastern Star Home for the care and kindness extended to Shirley and her family.

All are invited to call from 10:00 am to 11:00 am on Tuesday June 13, 2023 at the Owens -Pavlot & Rogers Funeral Service. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Church in Clinton at 11:30 am. Burial will be in Crown Hill Memorial Park.
