Obituary of Mary Elizabeth Bentley

Mary "Betty" Bentley, 95, of Clinton, passed away Sunday, May 26, 2013 at St. Joseph's Nursing Home surrounded by her loving family. Betty was born January 1, 1918 in Clinton, NY, a daughter of the late Joseph and Nora Blake. She graduated from Clinton Central School. On October 12, 1935 Betty married the love of her life G. Edward Bentley Sr., a blessed union of 71 years before his death on September 3, 2006. They first settled in Ilion, NY, and then moved to Orlando, Fl; where they lived for 25 years. In 2004 they both returned to Upstate New York. Betty was the beloved mother of G. Edward Jr. and Judith Bentley of Clinton, NY, Mary Carole DesChamps and John R Sr. of Ilion, NY and Thomas and Mary Bentley of Frankfort, NY; grandmother to Christine, Deborah, Susan, Edward, Robbie, Matt, Kelly, Carole, Daniel, Jennifer, Thomas, Robert and Colleen; she is also survived by 21 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; and a very special friend, Elizabeth Chesebro. She was pre-deceased by her brother, Phillip; and sisters, Katherine, Agnes and Helen. A funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Mary's Church in Clinton, NY on Friday, May 31, 2013 at 10:00 am with a Christian burial in St. Mary's Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call at Owens-Pavlot & Rogers Funeral Service, Inc., 35 College St., Clinton, on Thursday, May 30, 2013 from 4-7pm. Following the services everyone is invited to the home of G. Edward and Judy Bentley for a luncheon.
