Alberta “Bert” Munn Maloy

1942-2023

CLINTON

Alberta Maloy, 80, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 30, 2023, at the Lutheran Home after a recent rehab stay.

Alberta was born May 13, 1942, to Elinore (Corts) and Leslie Munn, of Norwich. She graduated from Whitesboro Central School in 1960, with her High School sweetheart, Thomas James Maloy, Sr. She went on to study nursing at Suny Plattsburgh, graduating in 1964.

Alberta and Tom married in 1966, and made their home in Clinton, NY, where they raised their family, and enjoyed 53 years together. Alberta loved her career as a Registered Nurse, and she was a School Nurse for many years at Westmoreland Jr. Sr. High School, before going to Faxton Hospital, where she was a compassionate nurse for 16 years. Alberta felt a special connection to her patients and coworkers there, and often kept up with them after her retirement.

She had a special way of appreciating the little things in life. She enjoyed making scrapbooks of her family, cataloging life, and memory keeping. She often clipped jokes from the Sunday Funnies, and mailed them to friends just because she knew they’d find them humorous. She never missed a birthday, anniversary, or special event. She will be remembered for her letter writing, her typewritten notes, and for her thoughtful ways. She enjoyed the beauty of springtime, birdwatching, snuggling with a good book, and Black-Eyed-Susans. She will be missed, but her love will remain.

She was predeceased by her husband Thomas, and both sister in laws, Jill and Patricia, but Alberta will be remembered by her sons: Thomas James Maloy Jr. (Patra) of Severna Park, MD, and Michael Maloy of Rochester, NY. Her grandchildren: Ryan, Jack, Chloe, Ella, Molly, and David, were also Bert’s pride and joy. Bert also leaves her sister, Susan Lalor and her husband, the Hon. Daniel K. Lalor, of Catskill; brother-in-law John Berghoff, of AZ, brother-in-law, Wilton Rose, of Deansboro, and niece Michelle (Andrew) Donnelly and family, of Deansboro. Special nephews, cousins: Christine Lipes, Luanne Corts; friends: Jane Graham, Julia Elacqua, and Sister Maureen Denn, will also miss her.

Family and friends are invited to remember Bert at a graveside committal service on Thursday, April 6, 2023, at 11:30 a.m., officiated by Sister Maureen Denn, at Mount Olivet Cemetery, 70 Wood Rd, Whitesboro, NY.  Arrangements by Owens-Pavlot & Rogers Funeral Service.

The Maloy family wishes to thank the staff at the Lutheran Home, for their care and compassion.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to St. Jude’s.
