Obituary of Shirley Ann Barron

Shirley A. Barron, 81, of New Hartford, passed away May 16, 2013 peacefully at the Masonic Home. Shirley was born October 09, 1931, a daughter of William and Waldemina Morrison. She attended New Hartford High School. Shirley retired from The Observer Dispatch after having worked there for more than 40 years. When her boys were younger she worked many additional jobs, including Woolworths Department Store and the State Street Mill; sometimes working three jobs at once. She worked her whole life for her boys. She loved animals and flowers. She would adorn her house with flowers. She was very social and loved everyone. Her personality was very contagious and everyone who knew her loved her. There were always people coming in and out of her home and that's the way she liked it. She was very feisty, but always had a heart of gold. She was also known for her generosity and cheerfulness. She would do anything for anyone. People lovingly called her "mom" at work and her office was always full of people. She will be greatly missed. Shirley is pre-deceased by her parents; her sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Roger Simon; brother, Mark Morrison; great grand-daughters, Nevaeh and Layla Martinez; niece, Debbie Simon; great-niece, Kim Simon. She is survived by her sons, David Barron of New Hartford, Douglas and Diane Barron of Clayville, and Darryl Barron of New Hartford; grandchildren; Scott Barron, Jennifer Deserre (Edward), Natasha Keem-Martinez (Ruben), Kelly Barron, Jacob Barron; great grandchildren, Emily Barron, Giulianna and Broc Deserre, Catalaya Martinez; nephews, Brian Simon, William Simon (Cheryl); grandnephew, Todd and his family. A graveside service for Shirley will be held on Monday, May 20, 2013 at 10:00 am at Crown Hill Memorial Park, Clinton, NY. All are invited to call Sunday from 2-5pm at Owens-Pavlot & Rogers Funeral Service, Inc., 35 College St., Clinton.
