Obituary of Richard P. Lee

Richard P. Lee, Sr, 81, passed away at home on February 19, 2023, surrounded by his family.

He was born April 5, 1941 in Utica, son of the late Milton and Rosemary (Pittman) Lee.  Richard proudly served his country in the United States Navy and retired as a Senior Chief Petty Officer.  Richard was honored to be selected to serve as a Plank Owner of the USS California CGN36.  After the Navy, he worked at Mohawk Valley Community College in Facilities, then retired as Supervisor of Buildings and Grounds at New Hartford Central School.

He is survived by his wife, Sharon Lee; children, Richard P. Lee Jr, Kandy Hammon (Walter), Christine Swalgin (James Zombek), Robert E. Lee (Tracy), Kathy Sgroi and Kelly DeGrace (Stephen); many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sisters, Rosemary Padula (Charlie Sandone) and Verna Rogowski (Gary); brother Milton Lee; and many nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by his parents and son-in-law Michael Sgroi.

All are invited to a Memorial Visitation from 4-7pm on March 2 at Owens-Pavlot & Rogers Funeral Service, 35 College St., Clinton.  A graveside service with Military Honors will be held in the Spring.
