Obituary of Mary Ellen Dougherty

Mary Ellen O’Neill Dougherty, 57, passed away with her loving husband by her side on January 26, 2023. 

She was born in Utica on October 15, 1965, a daughter of the late Richard V. and Joan (Colacino) O’Neill.  On April 22, 1995, she was united in marriage to Patrick P. Dougherty at St. Thomas Church.  Mary and Pat lived life to the fullest, traveling and gathering memories and friends along the way, especially their trips to Lynchburg, TN. She worked as a receptionist at CABVI in Utica for many years.  Mary was nominated into the Tennessee Squire Association on January 3, 2017.  She belonged to various Squire Associations and was recently accepted into the Whiskey Rebels. 

She is survived by her devoted husband Patrick; her beloved dogs, Cadet, Finnegan, Jasper and River; her cherished cats Tully and Finley; her three brothers, Dennis and Suzanne O’Neill of Sauquoit, Timothy O’Neill and his daughter Sophia of New Hartford, Michael O’Neill of Herkimer; her two sisters, Pattie O’Neill and wife Anna Rogers of Glen Allen, VA, and Margaret “Muggsie” and Michael Myers of Aurora, CO; sisters-in-law, Mary Ann Dougherty, and Cathleen Dougherty; special niece Shari Manwarren and many loving nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews; many extended family members; and countless friends, including best friend Lisa Meays and husband Brian Humphreys, and Chris Perini.  

All are invited to call Friday, February 3, 2023, from 3-7pm at Owens-Pavlot & Rogers Funeral Service, 35 College St, Clinton.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Noon Saturday at St. Mary’s Church in Clinton. 

The family appreciates and thanks Clinton Fire Dept., COCVAC, and the nurses and staff at St. Luke’s ICU, especially the overnight nurse Maria who did so much to comfort Mary and her family.
