Obituary of Cathy A. Monroe

Please share a memory of Cathy to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Cathy A. Monroe “Mama Cath”, 65, passed away January 1, 2023, at Faxton-St. Luke’s Healthcare with family and friends holding her hand.

She was born in Utica on October 3, 1957, a daughter of Jack and Margaret Murfit.  Cathy was a dedicated single mother, who sacrificed so much and whose love and support for her daughter never faltered. Cathy was a Senior Plan Writer with the ARC of Oneida-Lewis and loved her job.  She was devoted to her clients and a dedicated, hard-worker. She was always there for her co-workers, forever willing to cover an extra shift and lend a helping hand. When Cathy wasn't spending her time working, she thoroughly enjoyed working on DIY projects around the house. She loved taking ideas she saw on HGTV and turning them into reality. She had a deep love for animals, rescuing and nursing to health many stray cats, dogs, and even a wild rabbit along the way.

She is survived by her daughter Kayle Delmastro; mother Margaret Murfit; sister Betty and Donald Morris; God-daughter Julie Gogola; God-son Scott Morris; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, special friend Glen Maine, and devoted best friend of 30 years, Cindy Ross, who spent countless hours by her side, supporting her and making her laugh until the very end; and best friend with four paws, her cat “Bug”. She was predeceased by her father Jack and her sister Trina Gogola, as well as her beloved cat Nala.
