Obituary of Gene Ford

Gene "Tony" Ford, 82, of Skyline Drive, passed away Monday, November 16, 2009. He was born on the Ford Homestead on Skyline Drive on November 27, 1926, a son of Edwin T. and Dorothy Trowbridge Ford. Tony graduated from Clinton Central School and in 1947 he started a successful logging business which he operated for many years. On November 4, 1960 at Vernon Center Presbyterian Church, he was married to Ruth Edwards. The couple shared a union of 46 years until Ruth's passing on November 1, 2007. Throughout his life he operated a dairy farm and had a true love for the land that he passed on to his family. Above all else, he loved the times spent with his three grandsons, who were his pride and joy. Tony was a member of the board at the National Bank of Vernon for 25 years. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Tom and Shelli Ford of Clinton; three grandsons, Jared, Tyler and Connor Ford; and two sisters, Agnes and Milton Brown of Vernon Center and Carol McLaren of Deansboro. He was also predeceased by three brothers, Edwin "Mike" Ford, Arnold Ford and Donald Ford. Funeral services will be held at 1pm Friday, November 20, 2009, at Owens-Pavlot & Rogers Funeral Service, Inc, 35 College St., Clinton. Friends are invited to call Thursday from 7-9pm at the funeral home. Burial will be in Vernon Center Cemetery.
