Obituary of Michael S. Mizgala
Michael S. Mizgala, 89, passed away November 8, 2022, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born in Rome on October 22, 1933, son of the late Sam and Rose Yuschak Mizgala. Michael attended Rome schools and was a 1953 graduate of Rome Free Academy. On June 18, 1955, he married Helen Pawlikowski in Rome, NY. She passed away September 27, 2021. Michael worked at Rome Developmental Center as a cook retiring in 1989.
In his earlier days he participated in area baseball leagues. Once his baseball playing days were over, Mike turned his athletic talents over to bowling and golf leagues. Michael enjoyed woodworking through the years and crafted many pieces for family & friends.
He is survived by children, Mona Mizgala, David Mizgala, Michael (Debbie) Mizgala, Kelly (Ken Holmes) Shanley, Jeff (Christina Hall) Mizgala and Michelle (Mike Harrison) Mizgala; eight grandchildren, Patrick (Krista), Kayla (Ryan), Brendan (Bethany), Eric, Michael Paul, Scott, Eve and Abigail; three great-grandchildren, Fiona, Haley and Hannah; sisters-in-law, Anna Moster, Agnes Beasock, and Fran O’Brien; and many nieces & nephews. He was predeceased by his wife Helen; infant daughter Robin; daughter-in-law Barbara J. Mizgala; brothers, John and Harry Mizgala; sisters, Anna Cornacchia, Mary Pocchiari, Pauline Froelich and Jennie Mizgala.
