Obituary of Michele J. Barber

Michele J. (Merriman) Barber, 64, passed away peacefully at St. Luke’s Hospital May 25, 2022, with her daughter by her side. Michele was born in Rome on August 27, 1957, to the late Eugene and Marilyn (Lagasse) Merriman. She was raised with her four siblings in Westmoreland and loved spending time at the family farm. She attended Westmoreland schools and went on to become a nurse at Faxton and the ARC. In 1977 she married the love of her life Gene Barber, and they shared a loving union of 43 years until his untimely death in 2020. Michele enjoyed going thrift shopping, going to see “Uncle Ray” at the casino and spending time wither her friend Nancy Pendolf. She was a family woman and loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, brothers, sisters, and extended family. She loved the time they spent in the summers at camp on Canadarago Lake. She loved relaxing with her canine companion Bruce and watching Little House on the Prairie and the Waltons among many other classic TV shows. Michele leaves behind her children, Christine Stockbridge, Gene & Hilary Barber, Sarah Hajduk, Matt Barber; grandchildren, Joey, Trevor, Nick, Wyatt, Joslynn, Trinity, Cameron, Isabelle, Emily, Ava; brothers and sisters-in-law, Eugene & Anne Merriman, William & Penny Merriman; sisters and brothers-in-law, Darlene Barber, Donna & Joe Klis; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband, and her brother-in-law, Peter Barber. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Brehaut for his care and compassion over the years. They would also like to thank Michele’s sisters Donna and Darlene for all the time they spent caring for and keeping Michele company. All are invited to call on Tuesday, May 31st, 2022, from 4pm-7pm at Owens-Pavlot and Rogers Funeral Service, 35 College Street, Clinton. Funeral services for Michele will be private to her family, she will be buried in Evergreen Cemetery, Westmoreland.
