Obituary of David L. Richards

David L. Richards, 78, of Vernon Center, died Tuesday, February 19, 2013 at Rome Memorial Hospital. He was born June 12, 1934 and served in the US Army from 1953-1956. He was married to Marie E. Newman on February 8, 1991. David was the sexton at St. James Episcopal Church, Stone Presbyterian Church and retired from St. Mary's Church in Clinton. He enjoyed reading mystery and true crime books and loved to watch Westerns and comedies on television. He is survived by his wife, Marie; his four children and their spouses, David Richards, Jr. of Oklahoma, Candi and Peter Wilson of Palatine Bridge, Randolf Richards of Utica and Rebecca and Mark Davis of Moravia; three step-children, Christopher Tyler, Sr. of Massena, Elena and George Wuest of Clinton, and Robert Tyler of Vernon Center; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and many other relatives on his wife's side that will miss him dearly. He was predeceased by three sisters and three brothers. Funeral services will be held at 10am Saturday, February 23, 2013 at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, 5652 East Main St., Verona, NY. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery. There will be no public calling hours. Arrangements by Owens-Pavlot & Rogers Funeral Service, Inc., Clinton, NY. In lieu of flowers, please arrange for masses to be said for David at a church of your choice.
