Obituary of Marie K. Gallup

Marie K. Gallup, 94, formerly of Clinton, passed away April 25, 2022, at The Abraham House in Utica. She was born November 15, 1927, in New Hartford, the daughter of the late Cecelia (Burmaster) and Harold Burritt. Marie grew up in Paris Hill and graduated from Clinton High School. She then went on to beauty school in Syracuse. On July 21, 1947, she was united in marriage to Howard Gallup. The couple shared 26 years of marriage until Howard’s untimely death on November 23, 1973. She retired from Utica State Hospital after many years of service. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Jack Bohrer; seven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and all the other children she cared for as her own. She was predeceased by her husband; son, Harold “Buzz” Gallup; and brother George Burritt. A Memorial Mass will be held at 1pm Friday, May 6, 2022, at St. Mary’s Church in Clinton. She will be buried at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Yorkville. There will be no public calling hours. Please consider donations in Marie’s memory to The Abraham House.
