Obituary of Evelyn M. Vunk

Evelyn M. Vunk, 91, passed away Sunday, April 10, 2022.
She was born in Clinton on November 18, 1930, a daughter of the late Henry “Earl” Hofmeister and Ruth M. Franz and graduated from Clinton Central School. While in CCS she excelled in academics, played volleyball, field hockey and was the class secretary. On June 20, 1953, she was united in marriage to Douglas L. Vunk. They shared a loving union of friendship and devotion until his passing in 2017. Evelyn worked as a bookkeeper at Oneida Limited, as well as Hamilton College and Hertz Shoe Company. In her free time Evelyn loved to go camping, garden, paint and loved to research her genealogy. She also enjoyed puzzles, playing card, reading, knitting, and playing the accordion. She loved her animals. She was a member of the garden club and Home Bureau as well as a 73- year member of the Order of Eastern Star Grace Chapter 126 and Bell Tower Chapter 188.
She is survived by her two sons, a daughter and their spouses, Dennis and Dawn Vunk, Debbie Vunk, and Dale and Robin Vunk; six grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and a sister-in-law Joyce Clemens. She was predeceased by her husband Douglas L. Vunk, her parents, sisters Laura Hofmeister and Shirley Van Cuyck; and her brother John “Jack” Hofmeister.
All are invited to call Wednesday, April 13, 2022 from 5-7pm at Owens-Pavlot & Rogers Funeral Service, 35 College Street, Clinton. Funeral services will be held at 10am on Thursday at the funeral home. She will be buried at Crown Hill Memorial Park.
