Obituary of Kathleen L. Smith

Kathleen "Kathie" L. Smith, 62, of Luke Road, died unexpectedly on Friday, February 15, 2013 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center.
She was born on July 10, 1950, in Utica, the daughter of the late Richard D. and Barbara (Loudon) Litz Sr., and graduated from Clinton Central School. On November 8, 1969, she was married to Richard Smith. She worked for Herb Philipson's for many years in their human resources department. Kathie and Rick attended craft shows all over Central New York with their business, Scroller and Toler Decorative Painting and Woodwork, where they created beautiful crafts together. Kathie always had a sparkle in her eye and a smile on her face and loved her cats. Above all else, Kathie loved her spending time with her family.
She is survived by her loving husband, Rick; her two sons and a daughter-in-law, Rich Smith of Clinton and Alan and Debbie Smith of Durhamville; her granddaughter, Alexis; her four brothers and sisters-in-law, Richard and Shirley Litz of Daytona Beach, FL, Paul and Beth Litz of Troy, Michael and Heidi Litz of Clinton and David and Karen Litz of Clinton; many nieces and nephews, including her two special nieces, Jenna and Hannah Litz; Goddaughter, Chelsea Litz and her special friends, Sandy Kelsey and Charlotte Hughes. She was predeceased by her parents.
Funeral services will be held at 10am on Tuesday, February 19, 2013 at Owens-Pavlot & Rogers Funeral Service, Inc., 35 College St., Clinton. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery. All are invited to call Monday, February 18, 2013 from 4-7pm at the funeral home.
The family asks you to consider donations to Stevens-Swan Humane Society of Oneida County, 5664 Horatio St., Utica, NY 13502, as a tribute to Kathie's love for her pets.
The family thanks Dr. Warfel, Sally O'Callahan, NP, Sandy Gaetano, NP and the staff at St. Elizabeth's Emergency Department for the wonderful care given to Kathie and the compassion shown to her family.
