Obituary of Dolores H Kitchen

Dolores H. Kitchen, 80, formerly of Moore Rd, passed away Monday, February 11, 2013 at the Eastern Star Home. She was born November 22, 1932, in Oriskany Falls, a daughter of the late Martin and Mildred (Salm) Kitchen. She graduated from Westmoreland Central School with the Class of 1950 and Cobleskill College with a degree in food service administration. She worked for New York State in the mental hygiene wards at Mohawk Valley Psychiatric Center for over 33 years, retiring in 1988. Dolores was a devoted lifelong member of Lairdsville Methodist Church where she taught Sunday school and was on the PCR committee and the Administrative Board. She was a member of the Oriskany-Westmoreland Order of the Eastern Star #471 and served twice as its Matron. She was an active member of her community, where she was a charter member and past president of the Westmoreland Kiwanis, member of the Westmoreland Historical Society, belonged to the Westlanders and Whitestown Senior Citizens, was treasurer of the Tri-County CSEA, member of RPEA, served as president of the Utica Chapter AARP, was a Republican Committee Person for over 30 years and an election inspector for the Town of Westmoreland. She was also a member of the Red Hat Ladies' Society and the Women of the Moose Chapter O. She also enjoyed card club and bowling. Dolores loved sight-seeing and traveled throughout the United States including Alaska, Canada, as well as to the Holy Land and Brazil. Dolores was predeceased by her parents and step-mother Myrtle Kitchen. She is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Diana and Gene Reinhardt of Hillsborough, NJ; her brothers and sisters-in-law, Arlo and Roberta Kitchen of Camden, Carlton and Phyllis Kitchen of Vernon, Roger and Hazel Kitchen of Oneida; her step-sister and her husband, Carol and Earl Haman of Schuyler; six step-brothers and their wives, Norman Reinhardt, Fred Reinhardt, Dave and Betty Reinhardt, Carl and Kathy Reinhardt, Neil and June Reinhardt and Gary and Linda Reinhardt; sixteen nieces and nephews and many great-great nieces and nephews. A Memorial service will be held at 11am Friday, February 15, 2013 at Lairdsville United Methodist Church. Her burial will be Friday at 10am at Maple Grove Cemetery in Vernon, prior to the memorial service. All are invited to call Thursday from 2-4 & 7:30-9:30pm at Owens-Pavlot & Rogers Funeral Service, Inc, 35 College St., Clinton. O.E.S. Oriskany-Westmoreland Chapter will conduct services Thursday evening at 8:30pm.
