He was born in Utica on May 19, 1931, a son of the late William F. and Winifred (Fetterly) Scranton. Bud attended the Utica Schools and served in the US Army National Guard. On November 28, 1953, he was united in marriage to Irene Smith. Bud was the type of man who put his all into everything he did and was not afraid of hard work. He was an active member at the Church of the Annunciation in Clark Mills and with the musical group Exodus. He was active in Cursillo and was very involved in Prison Ministry. His family will always remember his 'Rindacella' story. He loved music and had a special song to sing to his wife and each of his six children as they were growing up. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Irene, to whom he was a faithful, loving husband and his six children: Patricia and husband Robert Lauducci of Westmoreland; William and wife Laurie Scranton of Norwich; Peggy and husband Alan Blume of Sutton, MA; John and wife Diane Scranton of Berwick, PA,; Carol and husband Steve Eaton of Westmoreland; and David Scranton of Inlet; his fourteen grandchildren and their spouses, Michael and Alexandra Lauducci, Joseph and Lisa Lauducci, Sarah Lauducci, Marianne Lauducci, John and Ashley Scranton, Katie and Gary McKinnon, Paul Scranton, Michael Scranton, Andrew Blume, Amy Blume, Carly Scranton, Emily Scranton, Christopher Eaton and Justin Eaton; three great-grandchildren, Annalisa Dam, Elizabeth Scranton and Ce Ce McKinnon; his sister, Elizabeth "Betty" Becker of Albany; his special in-laws, Pat and Russ Hughes, Bill and Bonnie Tuttle, Larry Smith, Barbara Smith, Skip Smith and Edie and Pete Szatko. Uncle Bud was a favorite among his many nieces and nephews, with whom he loved to spend time, too. He was predeceased by his parents, his brother, Charles William Scranton and two sisters, Winifred Catherine (Kay) Swindle and Patricia Madden. All are invited to call Thursday, February 14, 2013 from 5-7pm at Owens-Pavlot & Rogers Funeral Service, Inc, 35 College St., Clinton. Private services will be held for the family. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to Central Oneida County Volunteer Ambulance Corps or the Clark Mills Fire Dept. The family thanks the Presbyterian Home and Oneida Extended Care Facility for the compassionate care given to Bud.
