Obituary of Archie S. Burton II

Archie S. Burton II, 89, of Clinton passed away on Sunday, January 2, 2022. Archie was born in Sudbury, Ontario, on September 11, 1932, to the late Archie and Christine (Smith) Burton. He started his hockey career at a young age in Canada and eventually relocated to Clinton, NY when he became a member of the Comets. It was in Clinton, New York that he met the love of his life, Regina McManus and married her on July 27, 1957, at St. Mary’s Church in Clinton. After many years of playing hockey for the Clinton Comets, Archie opened Sports Center in New Hartford, where he was a manager and partner. Archie enjoyed playing golf at the Skenandoa Country Club where he was a member and enjoyed sailing at the Otsego Sailing Club. He was a loving husband and father. Archie leaves behind his two sons, Archie and Andrew; grandchildren, Andrew Jr. and Allyson; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife Regina. All are invited to a Memorial Mass at 10am on January 12, 2022, at St. Mary’s Church in Clinton. Masks will be required and please follow current COVID19 guidelines. A Celebration of Archie’s life will be held at the Skenandoa Country Club at a date to be announced. Archie will laid to rest in St. Mary’s Cemetery with his wife at a later date.
