Paul James Engle, 70, passed away on Saturday, December 18, 2021, surrounded by his family and friends.
Paul was born in Utica, NY on February 20, 1951, the son of James and Carol (Calkins) Engle. Paul was a proud graduate of Westmoreland Central High School. After graduation, he pursued a career in construction, specializing in finish carpentry. His carpentry skills carried him up and down the East Coast, even working inside the White House. Paul enjoyed golfing and fishing, along with strumming on his guitar. He loved nature and the outdoors, and regularly walked through the Village of Clinton and the Hamilton College Campus. Paul always had a soft spot for his canine friends, and fondly remembered his beagle Potsie. He never missed an opportunity to greet a dog he encountered. He attended and was a member of the Westmoreland United Methodist Church.
Paul is survived by his Aunt and Uncle Raymond and Elizabeth (Bette) Barron. His Aunt Bette, whom he cherished, was like a second mother to Paul. He also leaves behind his caring and devoted cousin, Jeff Barron and his wife Gwen. They lovingly supported Paul throughout his illness. Cousins, Bruce and Mary Coyne, Michael and Tina Coyne, Daniel and Jill Barron, Ronald and Allison Barron, and relatives on the Engle side of the family.
The family would like to thank Jeff and Michelle Effland for their concern and care of Paul during his illness, and the staff of Colonial Park Rehabilitation and Nursing Home for the compassion and excellent care shown to Paul during his brief stay.
In following with Paul’s wishes there will be no calling hours. A graveside service will be held in the spring.
In Paul’s memory, please consider donations to The Rome Humane Society, The Westmoreland Fire Department and COCVAC.
