Sherry Perkins Besig, 72, of Westmoreland, passed away unexpectedly October 21, 2021.
She was born on May 8, 1949, the daughter of the late DeLester and Marjorie (Watson) Perkins. She grew up in Deansboro and graduated with the Class of 1968 from Westmoreland Central School. She was united in marriage to John “Jack” Besig on August 3, 1968. Together they loved sharing time with their family and friends, traveling, camping, boating, and enjoying life. She had a lifelong love of animals; especially horses and dogs including the late beloved Harley. Sherry spent many years riding her Arabian horse “Mouse” in competitions and making many friends along the way. Sherry and Jack had a trucking business for years where she also drove along beside him. She owned a home-care business called Comfy Care which provided in-home care and companionship to her clients. Sherry loved being a mother to her son John and Cherished her grandson Bentley. She was a wonderful cook and loved to share her meals with her family and friends. She enjoyed hosting many get-togethers for special occasions where she laughed, danced, joked, and was the life of the party. Her home was a gathering place where you were greeted with a warm smile, welcomed in with a hug, and shared a chat with a great cup of coffee.
She is survived by her loving husband, John “Jack” Besig; her son John Besig; grandson Bentley Besig; in-laws, Claire Haines, Helen Cornell, and Bob and Jeanette Besig; her nieces and nephews, Joe Findley, Colleen Davis, Mark Haines, Georgeann Reed, Joe and Sally Haines, Scott and Pam Cornell, Laura and Dale Baldwin, Dana and Dan Verminski, David and Jodie Besig, and Bill and Rachel Besig; many special cousins, including, Don and Pat Hinman, Skip and Sheila Staelens, and Judy and Dennis Hilts; and many grand and great-grand nieces and nephews.
