Obituary of Theodore Joseph Chmielewski

Kirkland- Theodore J. Chmielewski, 71, passed away on Friday, October 15, 2021, in the comfort of his own home. He was born on December 9, 1949, in Utica to the late Theodore and Mary (Mott) Chmielewski. He attended Utica schools and graduated from Proctor. Theodore was married to the love of his life Claire Coleman on July 10, 1971. He was a family man who loved and cherished his grandchildren. He enjoyed time spent outdoors hunting and fishing. He was an accomplished marksman and competed in many local, state, and national competitions in pistol shooting. He loved working with his hands, from wood and leather working to his most current hobby of copper artwork. Theodore served the City of Utica as a Police Officer for over 20 years before his retirement. Theodore leaves behind his loving wife of 50 years, Claire; sons, Ted and Matt; daughter and son-in-law, Katie and Sean Staeger; grandchildren, Lauren and Ryan Chmielewski; brother Frank Chmielewski; sister Antoinette Chmielewski; a large extended family, and many friends. He was predeceased by a brother Anthony Chmielewski. All are invited to call on Friday, October 22, from 4pm-7pm at Owens-Pavlot & Rogers Funeral Service, Clinton. A Celebration of life will follow calling hours immediately at 7pm. Theodore will be buried in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Clinton.
