Obituary of Edward W Neumann

Edward W. Neumann, Jr., passed away at his home in Preswick Glen in New Hartford on January 24, 2013. Blessed with a warm smile and charming personality, he was a resident in New Hartford for two years, after living 50 years in Glen Rock, NJ. Born in Chicago in 1931 to Edward Sr. and Clara Schwabe, where he lived for 30 years and married Theresa Ebervein on October 26, 1957. Graduated with a degree in metallurgical engineering from Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1952, and an MBA from the Wharton School of Business. Served in the Army with rank of First Lieutenant from 1952 to 1954. Worked as a financial analyst for AT&T in Chicago and New York City, and later as a real estate agent in Glen Rock. Devoted husband, father and grandfather, he raised four sons: William, wife Jodi and sons Nicolas and Eric of Denville, NJ; Thomas, wife Corrine of Clinton, NY; James, wife Virginia and children Christopher and Sarah of Lexington, MA; and Robert, wife Gail and children Allison and Matthew of Glen Rock, NJ. Preceded in death by his beloved wife Theresa in 2005, and his sister Jean in 1939, survived by his sons and grandchildren and stepmother Helen Neumann of Sun City, AZ. Served in a wide range of volunteer positions, including Treasurer of Meals on Wheels, Quartermaster for VFW Post 850 in Glen Rock, and the Resident's Board at Preswick Glen. He enjoyed staying active with his friends, including attending lectures, walking, Wii bowling, pinochle and other activities. Celebration of Ed's life to be held in the Aberdeen Room at Preswick Glen on Saturday, February 2, 2013 from 1 to 4 pm, 55 Preswick Drive, off Clinton Road (Route 12B), New Hartford, NY. His ashes will be spread on the Atlantic Ocean in a private family ceremony at Ed and Teri's favorite location off Cape Cod.
