Obituary of Francis Allen King Jr.
Please share a memory of Francis to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Francis A. “Fran” King Jr., 86, went to be with his Lord on Monday September 27, 2021, at the Siegenthaler Center with his loving family by his side.
Fran (known by family as Sonny) was born in Utica, on October 5,1934, to the late Emma (Phillips) and Francis Allen King Sr. He grew up in Utica, graduated from Proctor High School, joined the Army and proudly served during the Korean War 1953-1956. After serving his country, he completed a 5-year apprenticeship and became a licensed IBEW electrician. He worked for Casatelli Electric for 30 years and belonged to the IBEW Local 43.
Before leaving for the Army, he met the love of his life, Claudia R Zoeckler. She waited for him, and they were wed on December 14,1956. Fran was a family man and enjoyed spending any time that he could with his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. He was a volunteer chaperone for various Clinton Central School trips; a devoted member of the Zion Lutheran Church in New Hartford - served on the Church Council, was the Zion Boy Scout troop leader, was a long time member of the Men’s Group, wired the balcony organ at the church, chaired the Zion Church Food Bank for 10 years, among other ways to serve. As a cancer survivor, he was a proud spokesperson for HOPE Lodge. Fran was an avid outdoorsman; he loved fishing, hunting, and camping, especially with his family and close friend Ron Weise. He also enjoyed golf, wood-working, and bowling.
Fran will be dearly missed by his beloved wife Claudia; daughters: Denise (William) King Boyer, Janice Long; grandchildren: Fawn (Bert) Davis, Cory (Heidi) Boyer, Benjamin Boyer and fiancée Rachelle Johnson; great grandchildren: Brandon and Emma-Lee Davis, Elliette, Avery, and Reese Boyer. He was pre-deceased by a granddaughter Fern (Fawn’s twin) and his son-in-law John Long.
Fran wanted to invite family and friends who made his life full to join together on October 2, 2021, from 11AM-1PM at the Zion Lutheran Church in New Hartford. A Celebration of Life will follow immediately after at 1PM. Masks will be required for both calling hours and the celebration of life service, with no exceptions. Arrangements by Owens-Pavlot & Rogers Funeral Service, Clinton.
In lieu of flowers, Fran would be honored by a donation in Fran’s name to Zion Lutheran Church, 630 French Rd, New Hartford, NY 13413, OR Hospice and Palliative Care, 4277 Middle Settlement Rd, New Hartford, NY 13413, OR The American Cancer Society B.
