Obituary of Dick Lutz, Sr.

Richard L. Lutz, Sr, 74, of Whitesboro, went home to be with his Savior on February 13, 2021. He was born on August 14, 1946 in Oneida, NY, a son of the late W. Seymour and Isabel (Outtrim) Lutz. Dick grew up in Lairdsville and graduated from Westmoreland Central School. He served his country in the US Army from 1964-1967. Dick was united in marriage to Elizabeth Brooks on February 6, 1970. The couple shared 51 years of love and devotion. He retired from Special Metals after 43 years of service. Dick was born again on October 25, 1979 and served his Lord in a number of churches, most recently he was a faithful member of New Beginnings Community Church in Rome. In his younger years, Dick helped his cousin build and race stockcars locally. He was a fan of the NY Yankees and looked forward to time spent at his camp on Lake Ontario and on the St. Lawrence River. He enjoyed going out to eat with his friends. Dick loved spending time with his children and grandchildren, most of all. He is survived by his wife, Betty; his daughter and son-in-law, Rebecca and Jason Rury of LasVegas, NV; his son Rich Lutz of Whitesboro; five beloved grandchildren, Alexandria, Landon and Logan Rury and Faith and Olivia Lutz; his sister Linda Cole and Bruce Wright of Trumansburg, NY; and his nieces, nephews and many good friends. He was predeceased by his parents and his brother William Lutz. Funeral services will be held at 4pm on Thursday, February 18, 2021 at Owens-Pavlot & Rogers Funeral Service, 35 College St., Clinton. All are invited to call from 3-4pm on Thursday prior to the service. He will be laid to rest at Maple Grove Cemetery in the Spring. Please wear a mask and respect current social distancing guidelines.
