Obituary of Michelle L. Kelly

Please share a memory of Michelle to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Michelle L. Kelly, 45, of Utica, passed away November 17, 2020 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center.

She was born in New Hartford on April 9, 1975, the daughter of Robert E. and Diane (Janicke) Kelly. It was at the Clinton Arena where Michelle first debuted as a figure skater in 1977 at the tender age of 18 months old. She was dubbed “baby of the ice show” at the time for being the youngest skater to ever appear on ice at that arena. Trained by her uncle Bobby Bono, Michelle also became a champion powerlifter throughout NYS, accumulating countless trophies by the age of 15.

During Michelle’s professional career within the nursing field, which spanned over 25 years, Michelle would immerse herself in her work and remained completely devoted to all of her patients, many of whom became close friends with Michelle. They would rave about her innate sense of detail, and the constant love, care and compassion that she displayed.

Michelle’s primary interest which gave her the most joy and fulfillment was going out to eat and spending quality time with all of her nieces and nephews, to include Mariah and Juan Geigel, whom she lovingly adored, regarding them as the most cherished part of her life.

She is survived by her immediate family, her mother, Diane Kelly; her brothers and sisters, Joey Janicke, Jimmy Kelly and Lori, Robin Kelly and Kenny, and Lyn Geigel and Danny. She is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, and nieces and nephews, and her special friend Dominick. Michelle also shared a close bond with her Uncle Tommy Janicke and stated that he always warmed her heart by putting a smile on her face and making her laugh. She was predeceased by her father, Robert E. Kelly and her grandparents, James and Eleanor Kelly, and Louis and Eileen Janicke.

The family would like to especially thank Susan Griffing, NP for everything she has always done for Michelle and her family and also at this difficult time.

Private services will be held for the family with burial at St. Mary’s Cemetery. Please consider donations to a Go Fund Me in Michelle’s name to assist with the family’s needs. https://www.gofundme.com/f/e9asz-funeral-expenses
