Obituary of Mary Ruth Nelson

Mary Ruth Nelson, 74, passed away May 8, 2020 in the comfort of her own home in Rome, NY, with her loving K-9 companion Dakota by her side. She was born in Clinton, NY on January 12, 1946 to the late Gustave and Beatrice (Evans) Nelson. She went to Clinton schools and after graduation she went on to College at MVCC. After College she spent over 30 years working for The Hartford as a Senior Tech until her retirement. Mary was a proud mother and grandmother and loved spending time with her family especially at Christmas. Some of her favorite time was spent with her father, who taught her how to hunt and shoot. Hunting and shooting were a large part of Mary’s life she was a NYS Certified shotgun, rifle, pistol, and black powder instructor for many years. Mary also enjoyed the Wild West, Western movies and anything that went along with them. Mary leaves behind her son and his wife, Rory and Christina Nelson; grandson, Benjamin; two sisters and their husbands, Linda and Tom Luchsinger, Cathy and David LaShure; nieces and nephews, Cherie and Tom Gettman, Shawn and Mickie Staring, Christopher and Becky LaShure, Daniel LaShure and Caitlin Wagner, Andrew LaShure; great nieces and nephews Elizabeth, Wyatt, Zoey, Carlie, Brayden, Colton, Olivia, and Payten; and her K-9 best friend Dakota. Services for Mary will be private to the family, she will be buried in Crown Hill Memorial Park.
