Sophie B. Wojcikowski, aged 90, passed away on Sunday, Sept. 30th 2012 at the Faxton-St. Luke's hospital with her loving family at her side. Sophie was born on May 18th, 1922 in Clark Mills, New York and was the daughter of Julius and Agnes (Czarnik) Bogacz. She was a lifelong resident of Clark Mills and a member of the Church of Annunciation and the Kirkland Senior Citizen's Center. She is survived by her two loving sons, Andrew Wojcikowski of Marlboro, Massachusetts and Lawrence Wojcikowski of Clark Mills as well as her brother, Joseph Bogacz of Clinton, New York and several nieces and nephews. Sophie was pre-deceased by her loving husband of 47 years, Steven Wojcikowski as well as numerous brothers and sisters from her large family including : Theodore Bogacz, Stanley Bogacz, Walter Bogart, Sadie Lucaszek, William Pasternak, Chester Pasternak, Pauline Pasternak, Jennie Jordon, Frances, Honoroka and Scholastyka. Sophie worked at Griffiss Air Force Base during World War II, married Steve in 1947 and became a homemaker for several years. When her sons were older, she joined the Hamilton College Library staff where she worked for several years until her retirement. Sophie was a kind, loving, and extremely supportive friend, mother and wife. She had an "impish" sense of humor and a deep sense of compassion for others. She loved to cook, especially Polish dishes, and looked forward to having her son's friends stay for dinner. Sophie and her husband Steve enjoyed traveling in their retirement and loved to regale their friends and family with their off-beat adventures. Sophie was a highly intelligent woman who enjoyed board games, bingo, and the occasional slot machine. She loved reading and playing cards with her family. She also loved her garden, the New York Yankees and identifying her favorite birds. Sophie's infectious laugh, unconditional love and ability to make everyone at ease will be terribly missed. Her family deeply grieves her passing but also knows she is already working her magic with those who have departed earlier. Her family wishes to acknowledge the wonderful care and support of the physicians and staff at the Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare hospital, the Clare Bridge facility of Clinton and the LutheranCare facility as she bravely battled her illness for several years.
