LeRoy B. Harrison Sr.
Whitesboro/Clark Mills
LeRoy B. Harrison Sr., age 83, took the hand of the Lord and passed away peacefully on Sept 27th, 2012.
He was born on April 5th 1929, in Canastota, New York, son of the late Mary and Daniel Harrison of Clark Mills, New York. He is survived by his wife, "The Absolute Love Of His Life" Mary Helen Harrison for 65 years. He leaves three children, his son, LeRoy B. Harrison Jr. and his wife, Mary, his daughter, Linda M. Harrison, and his son, Scott B. Harrison and his wife Patricia of Virginia, his loving sister Justine Ano and husband Mike, of Sylvan Beach, NY, his sister Beverly and Otto Stressel (deceased) of Clark Mills, NY, and his brother James B Harrison and friend Shirley of Parish, NY, and numerous very special grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, & one great-great grandson.
LeRoy, was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who's life revolved around his family. LeRoy was educated at Westmoreland Central School, and continued his education at MVCC where he received his degree in Technology. In his early years he worked for a local farmer, Urban Newman, where he learned his hard work ethics. He went on from there, to work for his great uncle, Ernest, at the former Harrison Furniture Store, where he started as a truck driver and then worked his way up to the business bookkeeper, then manager, for 29 years. At this time of his life, LeRoy and his wife Helen, started a very successful ceramic business for 20 years, namely, "Blarneystone Ceramics" meeting some wonderful people. For the next 17 years, he was the Bookkeeper for Canada Dry in Utica New York. When that business was sold, he went back to school at USC at age 59, and then worked for a New York Gas Company, again as a bookkeeper. From there, his last 5 years he worked, and retired, from Met Life, Oriskany, New York. This was a very talented man who knew a lot about many different skills, famous for his "Grandpa Fit" construction.
Funeral services will be at 10:30am Tuesday, October 2, 2012 at Owen-Pavlot & Rogers Funeral Service, Inc, 35 College St., Clinton with burial in St. Peter's Cemetery, Rome. Calling hours will be private for the family.
The family would like to thank The Lutheran Home, and St. Elizabeth's Cardiac ICU for their excellent care and prayers. In lieu of flowers, donations to the COCVAC, PO Box 399, Clark Mills, NY 13321, would be greatly appreciated.
