Obituary of Ruth B Adams

Ruth Brockway Adams, 91, passed away Thursday, September 6, 2012 in Plymouth, Massachusetts.
She was born Ruth Hazel Brockway in Clinton, NY on January 10, 1921, the daughter of Carl W. and Clara Thomas Brockway. Graduated from Clinton High School, she went on to Brockport State Teachers College. Ruth's first elementary school teaching assignment was in Hampton Bays, L.I., where she met and married Frank J. Adams. After the birth of two sons, she resumed her teaching career, received her Master's Degree from New York University where she was inducted into the honorary Kappa Delta Pi as well as Delta Kappa Gamma and became Coordinator of Elementary Education in Ardsley, NY. Before retiring in 1978, Ruth was selected to join a delegation sponsored by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce to conduct a workshop at the American School in Sao Paulo, Brazil. After the graduation of her two sons from college, one from Harvard and one from Columbia, Ruth enjoyed extensive worldwide travel which included the US, East Africa, Egypt, Morocco, Mexico, Australia and New Zealand. Ruth's life always included a commitment to a church and its'activities. She had been a member of Stone Presbyterian Church in Clinton, the First Reformed Church in Hastings-on-Hudson, NY, and the First Congregational Church in Falmouth, MA.
She is survived by her son Carl B. Adams of New York City.
She was predeceased by her husband Frank J. Adams in 1966 and son F. John Adams in 2011.
Graveside services will be held at 11:30am on Monday, September 10, 2012 at Sunset Hill Cemetery, Clinton, NY. Arrangement by Owens-Pavlot & Rogers Funeral Service, Inc, Clinton.
