Obituary of David A Gutowski

David A. Gutowski, 70, passed away December 16, 2019. He was born in Amsterdam, NY on September 16, 1949, a son of the late Joseph and Clara (Motyl) Gutowski. A year later, the family moved to Peekskill, NY, where David made life-long friends. He served his country in the US Army in Okinawa during the Vietnam War era. He worked on the Railroad for many years before becoming an attorney. David was united in marriage to Susan Catalano on October 12, 1995. They moved upstate, living in Richfield Springs, where he worked for Otsego County as a Child Protective Case Worker. After retirement they moved to Clinton. David will be remembered for his incredible positive spirit, his sense of humor and warm, welcoming nature. He was a sentimental person who appreciated everything people did for him. David was a man of great faith and was very proud of his Polish Heritage. He loved his family most of all. He is survived by his wife, Susan; his children and their spouses, David (Jamie) Gutowski Jr, Jenny (Jonny) Clyman, Becky (Andrew) Paland, and Heather (Russ) LaChanse; his beloved grandchildren; a brother, Joseph Gutowski; and two sisters, Dorothy Cleveland and Christine (YD) Mullin; and a brother-in-law, Richard Catalano. All are invited to call Friday, January 3, 2019, from 8:30-9:30am at Owens-Pavlot & Rogers Funeral Service, 35 College St., Clinton. A Memorial Mass will follow at 10am Friday, at St. Mary’s Church, Marvin Street, Clinton. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to St. Jude’s or the Shriners Hospital. The family would like to extend their gratitude to Dr. Sikder, Debra Iselo - FNP, all of their staff, as well as all those who were involved with his care while at St. Luke’s, for their kindness and compassion.
