Obituary of Jean G. Ahearn

Jean G. Ahearn, 82, of Clinton, passed away on Wednesday, August 22, 2012, surrounded by the love of her family at Faxton-St. Luke's Hospital.
She was born on January 7, 1930 in Cambridge, Massachusetts and was married to the love of her life, John "Jake" R. Ahearn on February 2, 1950. Throughout their 58 year union, the couple shared a deep and abiding devotion to each other. Jake died March 1, 2008. She retired from United Technologies Corp in Windsor Locks, CT, in 1988 and moved to Clinton, NY a year later. Jean was a member of St. Mary's Church in Clinton and volunteered for many years at the Kirkland Town Library and for the Oneida County Board of Elections at voter registration and elections. She was an avid Bingo player. Jean loved spending time with her family most of all and watching her grandsons play hockey, soccer and track for Clinton.
She is survived by her five daughters, a son and their spouses, Michael and Jean Ahearn of Brimfield, MA, Kathleen and Richard O'Dea of West Roxbury, MA, Colleen and Richard Scaffa of Medford, NJ, Eileen and Mike Gleason of Clinton, NY, Maureen and Marty Reidy of Holliston, MA and Erin and John Page of Charlton, MA; eleven grandchildren, Kimberley Frick, Michael and Megan O'Dea, Alex Scaffa, Nikki Little, Sean, Colin and Ryan Gleason, Tim and Cara Page and Jack Reidy; six great-grandchildren; her sister Sylvia Works of Stafford Springs, CT; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Emmett and Gloria Ahearn of Palmer, MA; and a special place in her heart for Kevin Conway, Ben Hobaica and Matt Pryor who were like grandsons to her. She was predeceased by her husband and her son, Patrick Ahearn.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 10am Saturday, September 1, 2012 at St. Thomas Church in Palmer, MA with burial in St. Thomas Cemetery. Friends are invited to call Friday from 5-7pm at Beers & Story Funeral Home, 1475 N. Main St., Palmer, MA. There will be no services in Clinton, NY. Arrangements by Owens-Pavlot & Rogers Funeral Service, Inc, Clinton, NY.
The family is grateful to Dr. Jorge Ferriero, Dr. Mark Hobaica and Dr. Stephen LaGrant and the staff of the 1st floor at St. Luke's for the care given to Jean and her family.
