Obituary of Walter J Senior

Walter J. Senior, 87, of E. Main Street, passed away Thursday, May 3, 2012 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center after being stricken at home. He was born June 23, 1924 in Utica to the late Walter E. and Mary Bergen Senior and graduated from the Westmoreland Central School. In 1946 he was married to Emily Ward at Church of the Annunciation in Clark Mills. Walt held several jobs in his lifetime including Dahl Motors, Union Fork & Hoe, Oriskany Foundry, caretaker of Westmoreland Cemetery and then owned and operated "The Bucket" with his wife for 10 years. Mrs. Senior died in 1973. Walt was a huge NY Yankees fan and a Vernon Downs regular. He is survived by four daughters, Janet Birella of Rome, Karen Thompson of Stokes, Jill Senior and Gary Emerick of Forestport and Joan and Larry Pepin of Pikeville, NC; five sons, Thomas, John, Jeff, Patrick and Scott Senior, all of Westmoreland; fifteen grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; his sister Vivian Shanley and his best friend and canine companion, Eddie. He was predeceased by his wife; his sons, William, Walter "Butch", Joseph, James and Michael; his sisters Joan, Jane and Lucille and his brothers, John "Jack" and William. Funeral services will be held at 11am Monday, May 7, 2012 at Owens-Pavlot & Rogers Funeral Service, Inc, 35 College St., Clinton. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. All are invited to call Monday from 10am- 11am prior to the funeral. Please consider donations to COCVAC or the Humane Society of Rome.
