Celia Virginia (Sacco) Malloy
Syracuse formerly of Clinton
Celia Virginia (Sacco) Malloy, born September 3, 1921, departed for a better place on April 5, 2012 at Iroquois Nursing Home in Jamesville, NY. She was 90 years old.
Born in Manhattan, to Angelina (Cardarelli) and Rocco Sacco, both of Italy, Celia moved to Utica as a young girl. She lived and worked for many years in the Clinton and Utica area of Central New York before moving to Syracuse in 2006. She was a graduate of Utica Free Academy and an active communicant at St Mary's Church in Clinton and then the Church of the Annunciation in Clark Mills. She was for many years an active member and leader in the Town of Kirkland Senior Center, and an avid maker of ceramic arts. Celia was predeceased by her husband Daniel Senior Malloy of Clinton in 1978. Surviving are her children, Dana (James) Barry of Canton, NY, Karen (John) Stever of Northern VA, Daniel (Roxann) Malloy of Portville, NY, Robin Paul (Margaret) Malloy of Dewitt, NY, Eric (Donna) Malloy of Springfield, VA., and Gary (Jean) Malloy of Charleston, SC;17 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and a nephew James Scire, Utica. She was predeceased by her sister Alta Scire, Utica.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday, April 16, 2012 at 11:00AM at the Church of the Annunciation, 7616 E. South St., Clark Mills. Visitation will be prior to Mass from 9:30-10:30 AM at Owens-Pavlot & Rogers Funeral Service, Inc., 35 College St., Clinton, NY. Burial will be at St. Mary's Cemetery, Clinton.
