Obituary of Barbara J Litz

Barbara J. Litz, 80, of Clinton, passed away Wednesday, April 4, 2012 at the Presbyterian Home, surrounded by the love of her family. She was born in Utica, NY on April 2, 1932, the daughter of Armand and Lois Vollmer Loudon. Barb grew up in Clinton and graduated from Clinton Central School. On November 26, 1949, she was married to Richard D. Litz Sr at Our Saviour Lutheran Church. The couple shared 53 years together until his death in 2002. Barb worked as a nurses' aide at Genesee Nursing Home, at Woolworth's and was a lunch aide at Clinton Central School for many years. She was a devoted mother and grandmother who took great pride in her family. She was a past Cub Scout Den Mother and was the treasurer for the Clinton Manor Tenant Association. She is survived by her daughter, four sons and their spouses, Kathleen and Richard Smith of Marcy, Richard Jr and Shirley Litz of Daytona Beach, FL, Paul and Beth Litz of Troy, Michael and Heidi Litz of Clinton and David and Karen Litz of Clinton; nineteen grandchildren, including her favorite grandson, Rich; ten great-grandchildren; her wonderful friends Leta and Bill Burns and her former daughter-in-law, Janet Litz. She was predeceased by her husband and Joe Landry, who was like a son to her. Funeral services will be held at 9:30am Saturday, April 14, 2012 at Owens-Pavlot & Rogers Funeral Service, Inc, 35 College St., Clinton. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery. All are invited to call Friday from 4-7pm at the funeral home. Please consider donations to Stevens-Swan Humane Society of Oneida County, 5664 Horatio St., Utica, NY 13502. The family thanks the nursing staff at the Presbyterian Home, especially Kelly and Barbie, for the care given to Barb.
