Della W. Manning, 84, of College Hill Road, passed away at her home on Monday, April 2, 2012.
She was born August 7, 1927, in Montour Falls, NY, a daughter of Lee and Eva Jane Barrett Wells. On November 23, 1949, she was united in marriage to John "Jack" J. Manning Jr. at St. James' Episcopal Church. The couple always resided on College Hill Road and shared 62 years of marriage until Jack's passing in 2010. Della retired from Hamilton College after 30 years as a secretary with the Registrar's Office. She was fondly thought of, by her friends and neighbors, as the "Matriarch of College Hill Road".
She is survived by her granddaughter and her husband, Sarah and Jeff Rorick of Deerfield and their children, Cody, Carter and Cameron; and her grandson Christopher Eberley of Whitesboro. She was predeceased by her husband John, her daughter Kathy, siblings Athelia, Norman, Betty and Thomas.
Funeral services will be held at 1pm on Friday, April 6, 2012 at Owens-Pavlot & Rogers Funeral Service, Inc, 35 College St., Clinton. Burial will be in Grandview Cemetery. Friends are invited to call Thursday from 4-7pm at the funeral home.
