Marian E. McCarthy Burg, 97, a longtime resident of Clinton, passed away on Friday, March 30, 2012 with her family by her side at the Presbyterian Home. She was born the daughter of the late Francis M. and Lucy Costigan McCarthy on July 7, 1914 in Paris Hill, NY. She was united in marriage to Donald Burg on July 14, 1936. Donald passed away August 28, 1977. Marian was a hard working homemaker, bringing up nine children, although she had ten, her son Donald Francis passed away at the age of six months. Her faith in God, her family, and her Irish heritage were her most prized possessions. She had a heart of gold and was a good friend to so many. Her most famous saying to her children was "As you are now, I once was, As I am now, you will be." Marian was predeceased by three brothers, Leo, James, and Edward McCarthy; a sister, Margaret Shoemaker; a granddaughter, Michelle Burg Zielinski; and daughter-in-law Bernadette Burg. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 4, 2012 at 10:00AM at the funeral home. Relatives and friends are invited to call Tuesday, April 3, 2012 from 2-4 & 7-9PM at Owens-Pavlot & Rogers Funeral Service, Inc., 35 College St., Clinton. Interment will be held in Vernon Center Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Heart Association, 120 Lomond Ct., Utica, NY 13502, Presbyterian Home, PO Box 1144, New Hartford, NY 13413 or to the Calvary Gospel Church: Missions, 300 Main St., New York Mills, NY 13417. The family would like to thank the activities department as well as the staff at the Presbyterian Home Aspen Wing for their wonderful care.
